This is something that Crystal DeVries has an interest in developing.

As I understand it, the idea is to demonstrate that viruses can cause disease states and that these may vary by tissue infected and the host plant used. I could see using susceptible and resistant plants. The virus prep could be inactivated with heat, chemical denaturants (chloroform), or proteases. Where do we get a good inoculum? Perhaps from cigars. Perhaps the teacher will have to infect a plant and then wait until lesions develop that would be a source of inoculum.

The kit they sell from Carolina Biological is here.
